Is hair botox safe? The straight answer
This is the most-searched question about the treatment, and it deserves a real reply rather than reassurance. Hair botox is applied to the hair shaft, not the scalp or bloodstream, and it contains no botulinum. The genuine concerns are narrower than the internet suggests:
- Formaldehyde. Some cheap "botox" and keratin products release formaldehyde when heated — that's what causes the eye and throat irritation people report. Ask any salon, including us, which system they use and whether it is formaldehyde-free. If they can't answer, walk out.
- It is not permanent. The effect washes out over 2–3 months. Anyone promising a permanent result is describing a different, harsher treatment.
- Protein overload is real. Hair that is already protein-heavy can turn stiff and brittle if you repeat the treatment too often. Every 10–12 weeks is plenty; more is not better.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. We don't take these bookings. There is no strong evidence of harm, but there's no good reason to take the risk either.

- Wait 48–72 hours before the first wash, and skip tying it tight in that window.
- Use a sulphate-free shampoo — sulphates strip the treatment out fastest.
- Rinse in cool water and air-dry when you can.

- Expect to repeat at 10–12 weeks, not sooner.
